Discrimination Complaint Investigator

Job Summary

The Arkansas Department of Transportation seeks an individual to investigate protected-class discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints under the supervision of the Civil Rights Officer. The position involves advising and assisting in resolving complaints and grievances, interviewing complainants and witnesses, analyzing supporting documentation and evidence, researching relevant laws, rules, and regulations, preparing written reports, and providing advisory and consultative assistance.

Examples of Work

• Advise and assist in resolving complaints and grievances alleging discrimination.
• Interview complainants and witnesses and analyze supporting documentation and evidence.
• Research laws, rules, and regulations governing allegations.
• Prepare written reports of investigations with findings.
• Protect the independence, neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation.
• Provide advisory and consultative assistance to Department personnel regarding EEO policies and procedures.
• Prepare statistical and narrative reports.

Minimum Requirements

• Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or a combination of education and experience totaling at least four years in civil rights, human resources, or a related field.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of EEO issues, specifically Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; above-average oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in writing; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

Office environment. Occasional in-state travel.

Working Hours

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
