About the role
The Disaster Recovery Case Manager (DRCM) provides long-term case management for individuals and families affected by natural disasters. Services include initial rapid response, regular follow-up contacts, and referrals to other disaster and non-disaster services.
Responsibilities
- Provide recovery case management services to individuals and families impacted by a natural disaster.
- Determine eligibility and assess client disaster-related needs utilizing The Salvation Army Pathway of Hope and disaster case management program criteria.
- Complete disaster intake forms and records, provide disaster-related financial assistance, and document services according to prescribed unit guidelines.
- Implement long-term case management planning services, including individualized recovery plans, mutual agreement on recovery goals, and regular monitoring of client progress.
- Input client and client-related information into The Salvation Army WellSky social service database.
- Provide disaster and non-disaster information and referral services, assist clients in accessing needed resources, and track their participation.
- Aid as a liaison between clients, The Salvation Army, and other agencies.
- Support client's spiritual growth by connecting them to pastoral care.
- Record direct financial assistance provided to clients.
- Produce timely and accurate statistical data and reports.
- Participate in management team meetings, case consultations, and in-service training sessions.
- Develop and maintain positive working relations with Salvation Army representatives, volunteers, and agencies providing services to clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with one year of related work experience. MSW is preferred.
- Experience working with specialized populations for emergency assistance, crisis management, care or case coordination, emergency disaster services, houseless, ALICE population, offenders, and seniors.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work with diverse cultures.
- Strong leadership style and organizational skills.
- Commitment to carrying out The Salvation Army mission.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Government, State, and community resources.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
- Proficient in related technology including Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, and JotForm.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
- Knowledge of the unique issues of homelessness, poverty, and disaster services.
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a trauma-informed, sensitive, and non-judgmental manner.
- Knowledge of Strength’s Perspective, Stages of Change Model, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to develop rapport, trust, and confidence in client relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
