About the role

The Disability Advisor supports students with disabilities through comprehensive, integrated services and accommodations. This role involves advising new and continuing students, managing their disability-related needs, and collaborating with various departments to ensure equitable access.

Responsibilities

  • Determines eligibility and disability accommodations through interactive processes with students.
  • Interprets complex assessments and policies to verify eligibility and provide accommodations.
  • Provides disability management consultation, interventions, and confidential counseling.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and modifies individualized student action plans.
  • Serves as a liaison to Student Housing & Residential Life and faculty for housing accommodations.
  • Maintains confidentiality and upholds professional standards and policies.
  • Supports outreach and presentations during campus events.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional student services experience.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years working with students with disabilities in higher education.
  • Familiarity with ADAAA, Rehabilitation Act, and other disability-related policies.
  • Advanced skills in cross-cultural disability management advising.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology used by students in higher education.

Knowledge and abilities:

  • Knowledge of disability management work and organizational and program management.
  • Thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior.
  • General knowledge of student services programs and policies.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, advise students, and manage personal interactions.

The salary is $5,540 per month.
