TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities across Utah, offering a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities. About the role

As a Residential Apartment Program Coordinator, you play an integral role in ensuring our program runs smoothly. You work hands-on with clients to ensure their physical and financial well-being, oversee staff, and ensure compliance with state and contract standards for programs and facilities. Clients are mostly independent but require varying levels of support with personal hygiene, medical care, behavior supports, communication, social skills, safety, recreation, and leisure. The Coordinator plans and executes activities to help individuals learn independence in their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the residential program for people with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and contract standards.
  • Provide hands-on support to clients in areas such as personal hygiene, medical care, behavior supports, communication, social skills, safety, recreation, and leisure.
  • Plan and execute activities to promote independence among clients.
  • Hold regular staff meetings and provide ongoing support and guidance to your team.
  • Remain available and flexible to address urgent program needs, including staff coverage and emergencies outside of typical hours.
  • Complete required training within 3 months of employment.
  • Produce and review typed business letters, reports, and accurate numerical records.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience, including interviewing, hiring, conducting performance evaluations, training staff, and scheduling.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, and personal/reliable transportation.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in producing business correspondence and reports.
  • Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and mentor/motivate others.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors is preferred.

Schedule

The typical schedule for this position is:

  • Sunday: 9 am – 9 pm
  • Monday: 2 pm – 9 pm
  • Tuesday: 2 pm – 9 pm
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 11 am – 6 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: Off

The role requires flexibility to address urgent program needs, including staff coverage and emergencies, which may involve day, swing, overnight, or weekend hours.
