About the Role

St. Joseph Catholic Church seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and visionary Director of Youth/Young Adult Ministry to work with Middle School, High School, and Young Adults, helping them develop their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a comprehensive youth ministry program rooted firmly in Catholic doctrine and parish life, considering the lived realities, struggles, and specific needs of the youth population.
• Lead prayer experiences, Eucharistic Adoration, retreats, small faith-sharing groups, and service opportunities.
• Utilize tools such as YOUCAT, DOCAT, THE EDGE, and LIFE TEEN for youth catechesis.
• Engage effectively with adolescents as a good listener and strong communicator.
• Maintain healthy social media boundaries and educate youth regarding inappropriate online behavior.
• Recruit, train, and support peer ministry and adult volunteers.
• Engage parents through meetings, workshops, and consistent communication regarding programming, expectations, and concerns.
• Provide practical resources and guidance to families navigating current youth challenges.
• Maintain diocesan safe environment protocols and safeguarding standards.

Requirements

• Strong faith commitment and in good standing with the Church.
• Degree in Theology and Certification in Youth Ministry.
• Minimum of three years' experience in a similar position.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Catholic teaching, particularly:
  • Catholic Moral Theology
  • Theology of the Body
• Computer literate.
• Maturity to earn the trust of young people while maintaining proper authority and professional boundaries.
• Leadership skills to support volunteers and maintain professional relationships.
