Key Responsibilities
- Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate department staff
- Directly supervise sub-functions including design and delivery teams
- Oversee venue development strategies to ensure venues meet Olympic and Paralympic operational requirements while balancing cost, schedule, and risk
- Lead resolution of complex design, construction, operational, and stakeholder issues impacting venue delivery
- Deliver Infrastructure
- Manage procurement specification development with integration of cost, schedule and construction feasibility
- Manage the venue development’s team requirements for cost, procurement, schedule, permitting and supplier integration
- Lead cross-functional coordination efforts to align venue delivery milestones with test events, operational planning cycles, and Games-time requirements
- Oversee transition planning from design and construction phases into venue operations and Games-time delivery
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Establish close working relationships with key functional areas to ensure the venue design development process aligns with cross-functional planning timelines and objectives
- Work with the IOC and IPC to understand all requirements, get strategic buy-in, and expedite approval processes where necessary
- Closely align with the Infrastructure Program Management Sub-function to ensure coordinated planning for all venue design and delivery milestones and deliverables including procurement and cost
Requirements
- Minimum 8-years of relevant industry experience in event infrastructure design and temporary infrastructure delivery
- Preferred working knowledge of California Building Code requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sports Management, Construction Management, Event Management, or related field or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
- Preferably with 5 years of leadership experience in the sport or live event industry
- Proven experience leading engineering or architecture and design programs – training as an engineer or architect is preferred but not required but direct experience overseeing and managing complex construction is required
- A collaborative mindset; someone who prioritizes the team and fosters a culture of high performance without ego
- Ability to implement and manage change effectively
Expectations
- Willingness to occasionally visit venues and work on-site as needed
- Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools advantageous
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information effectively
- To work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The position is based in Los Angeles office with in-person presence required.
- The LA28 office is an open-plan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time sitting, standing, using computers, phones, and other office equipment, and attending in-person meetings.
- Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and will include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Pay and Benefits
- The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000.00 - $180,000.00.
