Director, Underwriting/Pricing - ASA or FSA Required - Remote US

Responsible for

  • Development and underwriting of new product financial and programmatic cost models
  • Working with existing models and customers on product enhancements and modifications
  • Collaborating with strategic business units and various departments, including the Finance department
  • Reporting to the VP, Underwriting and partnering with them on executive management projects
  • Developing, documenting, and applying underwriting procedures, analytical approaches, and requisite tools for new products and enhancements
  • Reviewing utilization, cost trends, and assumptions for accurate data interpretation
  • Evaluating cost impacts of new product initiatives and assessing associated risks
  • Directing, overseeing, and coordinating underwriting procedures for new and existing business
  • Preparing recommendations on product and customer rates for senior management team approval
  • Analyzing claims detail data from in-house and external sources to support RFPs and renewals
  • Interacting with clients/customers and internal staff to resolve issues related to information and proposal language

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Actuary (FSA/ASA) designation
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles in a managed care environment
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to self-start and work independently
  • Good analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new product lines and adapt to changing environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with managing large data sets using tools like MS Access
  • Experience in actuarial pricing

Qualifications

  • Underwriting work experience preferred

Pay

Salary range: $117,860 - $200,360
