Director, TPM - Card Tech

About the role

As a Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) in Capital One’s Card Tech+ organization, you will lead programs that deliver critical business goals and build large-scale products and platforms. You will support technical testing scoping and execution, and contribute to growing the TPM discipline within the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical programs, ensuring successful integration with partners like Discover.
• Pave the way for expanding the TPM discipline within the team.
• Contribute to the growth and development of a TPM team, building the foundations for the TPM practice.
• Build and simplify complex systems, driving well-informed decisions across various stakeholders.
• Drive execution, follow-through, accountability, and results across diverse teams.
• Collaborate effectively across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to achieve business impact.
• Show emotional intelligence, listen actively, and empathize with teams and partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
• Experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
• Experience building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture (preferably AWS)
• Experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms
• Experience with Agile delivery
• Experience delivering large and complex programs, owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross-functional teams, securing commitments on deliverables, and unblocking teams to achieve business impact
• Experience in building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
• MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• Chicago, IL: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Technical Program Management

Schedule

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services), exceptional communication and collaboration skills, excellent problem-solving and influencing skills, a quantitative approach to problem-solving, a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions, a systems thinker, experience as a TPM leader, ability to simplify the technically complex, and ability to cross-team collaboration.
