Director, Technical Program Management (EPTech)

About the role

Lead technical programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms.

Responsibilities

• Leverage technical acumen and engineering experience to drive strategy and execution of large-scale, technically complex, cross-functional programs aligned with Capital One’s business priorities.
• Break down complexity and organizational silos, influence roadmaps, dive deep into system design and architecture, make technical tradeoffs, drive platform consolidation, and identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.
• Grow and develop a team of TPMs, while building the foundations for the TPM practice.
• Execute, follow-through, and drive results across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.

Requirements

• Strong technical backgrounds (building highly scalable platforms, products, or services).
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Quantitative approach to problem solving and collaborative implementation of holistic solutions.
• Experience as a TPM leader.
• Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
• Cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries.
• Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
• MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
• 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS.
• 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms.
• 3+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact.
• 3+ years of experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
