Director, Technical Program Management (EPTech)
About the role
As a Director TPM in EPTech, you will lead technical programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms.
Responsibilities
- Leverage your technical acumen and engineering experience to drive the strategy and execution of large-scale, technically complex, cross-functional programs aligned with Capital One’s business priorities.
- Break down complexity and organizational silos, influence roadmaps, dive deep into system design and architecture, make technical tradeoffs, drive platform consolidation, and identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.
- Have a strong technical background (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables, and unblock teams to achieve business impact.
- Build and develop a team of TPMs, while also building the foundations for the TPM practice.
- Simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
- Focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
- Collaborate across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
- Show high emotional intelligence, be a good listener, and demonstrate deep empathy for teams and partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
- MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience
- Experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
- Experience building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS
- Experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms
- Experience with Agile delivery
- Experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact
- Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
Benefits
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Pay
- McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Technical Program Management
Schedule
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
