About the role

Lead technical programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage technical acumen and engineering experience to drive the strategy and execution of large-scale, technically complex, cross-functional programs aligned with Capital One’s business priorities.
  • Break down complexity and organizational silos, influence roadmaps, dive deep into system design and architecture, make technical tradeoffs, drive platform consolidation, and identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.
  • Grow and develop a team of TPMs, while building the foundations for the TPM practice.
  • Execute, follow-through, and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
  • Simplify the technically complex and drive holistic solutions.
  • Work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.

Requirements

  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills.
  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions.
  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) preferred.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS preferred.
  • 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms preferred.
  • 3+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment preferred.

Pay

  • McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Technical Program Management.
  • New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900 for Director, Technical Program Management.
  • Plano, TX: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Technical Program Management.
  • Richmond, VA: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Technical Program Management.
  • San Francisco, CA: $251,400 - $286,900 for Director, Technical Program Management.

Schedule

  • Full-time.
