Director, Technical Program Management
About the role
We're looking for a Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) to join our Finance Technology team as an individual contributor. You will lead complex, multi-year integration initiatives, define large-scale integration strategies, and drive application convergence and data migration efforts that align with Capital One’s long-term technology vision.
Responsibilities

- Own the business or technical vision for large and complex programs
- Collaborate with large cross-functional teams to secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact
- Build the foundations for the TPM practice by growing and developing a team of TPMs
- Simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
- Ensure execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
- Work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done
- Show high emotional intelligence, be a good listener, and have deep empathy for teams and partners
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
- Experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
- Experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services or architecture (preferably using AWS)
- Experience delivering large and complex programs where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables, and unblock teams to land business impact
- Experience in building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment
- MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience

- Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
- A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
- Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Schedule
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
