About the role
The Director, Strategic Sourcing Logistics leads a team to develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives for Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Seabourn, while supporting global efforts across all Carnival brands. This role focuses on securing optimal sourcing opportunities that deliver value, drive cost savings, enhance service levels, ensure supply continuity, and mitigate supply chain risks. The Director collaborates closely with procurement, operations, and supply chain teams to achieve these objectives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver best value by partnering with logistics providers, including trucking, ocean freight, logistics service providers, air freight, storage and warehouse facilities, lane and equipment optimization, import/export, and tariff impacts across global markets.
- Drive adoption of modern, efficient global best practices, including AI and other modern tools, to ensure competitive and efficient operations.
- Provide oversight for all strategic sourcing initiatives across the portfolio using the 7-step sourcing process for large and complex projects.
- Engage and collaborate across the four North America brands, providing team member and stakeholder support.
- Identify and execute a pipeline of sourcing projects, including contracting and implementation.
- Develop and deliver an annual savings plan, pipeline, and performance goals, including hard savings targets, cost avoidance, and sustainability goals.
- Manage key supplier relationships and contracts, develop a supplier relationship management process, and conduct quarterly business reviews.
- Ensure smooth transition of contracts to procurement operations.
- Utilize spend management best practices, tools, and techniques to assess category opportunities and engage stakeholders with data-driven insights.
- Lead and motivate a team of strategic sourcing professionals, fostering career development and collaboration.
Requirements
- Extensive supply chain experience leading strategic sourcing initiatives, applying best practices, developing category management strategy, and utilizing the seven-step sourcing methodology.
- Proven ability to negotiate complex business deals and influence business strategy and supplier relations.
- Strong analytical skills, including financial cost analysis, should-cost, and total cost of ownership.
- Exemplary project management, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize changing workload requests, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and interact professionally at all organizational levels.
- Strong communication, planning, and change management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and eRFX tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Hospitality, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in Logistics and Freight Strategic Sourcing, preferably within a maritime environment.
- 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing/Procurement, with 3-5+ years in a leadership position.
- CPSM/CPM or comparable certification preferred but not required.
Schedule
- In-office role based in South Florida (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area), requiring work from a designated Carnival office Monday through Thursday each week.
- Remote work allowed on Fridays.
- Less than 25% travel, with shipboard travel likely.
