Director, Strategic Sourcing (Grocery)

M4: $161,000 - $226,000 / Annual. Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.

About the role

This position is responsible for achieving strategic and optimal arrangements related to the sourcing of department products and/or services. The Director oversees the execution, selection, evaluation, and negotiation for PRG items and/or services, ensuring suppliers fit Panda’s culture and philosophy, have the necessary capacity, and provide items and services at the best price and highest quality. This role also leads SCM staff involved with sourcing products and/or services.

Responsibilities

• Owns, leads, and oversees the development and execution of sourcing strategy using the 10-step strategic sourcing process for assigned products and categories in support of business strategy and plan.
• Identifies suppliers and arranges optimal contracts in terms of pricing, quality, timing, and supply availability over the contract term.
• Interacts with the highest level of executives at supplier companies.
• Advises senior leadership on product availability and pricing, pre-qualifying new suppliers and facilities based on price, capacity, safety, and quality.
• Ensures costs are within budget.
• Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align sourcing strategies.
• Designs and executes the five-year supply chain strategic plan, anticipating business requirements, identifying supplier sources, purchasing capacity, and industry/regulatory issues.
• Informs the SVP and senior leadership on industry insights such as tariffs, import/export limitations, government regulations, Act of God situations, mergers, acquisitions, personnel changes, new item introductions, etc.
• Recruits, selects, and develops an effective SCM team, providing leadership, coaching, and development to meet department goals.
• Develops and ensures business review sessions are conducted with suppliers to align on business strategies for managed products.
• Identifies cost-saving initiatives and negotiates terms with suppliers to achieve optimal value.
• Establishes and maintains strong professional relationships between business partners and the company to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Communicates with partners concerning PRG philosophy, growth plans, and aligns them to support growth.
• Evaluates the effectiveness and fitness of business partners to determine procurement strategy.
• Leads or supports cross-functional projects related to product specifications, service scope, quality inquiries, product recall, sourcing/testing new products, and phasing in products within distribution.
• Supports global sourcing of products for both domestic and international operations as needed.
• Tracks commodities markets on prices and supply to determine strategy and direction for optimal procurement and logistics programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent field required; MBA preferred.
• Minimum ten years of experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in a multi-unit food service and/or manufacturing organization.
• Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
• Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is required.
