About the role
The Ski Patrol Director oversees all functions of the Ski Patrol department, including avalanche mitigation, forecasting, medical response, hill safety, risk management, accident investigation, special event coverage, hiring, and training. This role combines field leadership with administrative oversight and requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, expert skiing ability, strong downhill mountain biking ability, and effective leadership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all functions of the Ski Patrol department
- Avalanche mitigation, forecasting, medical response, hill safety, risk management, accident investigation, special event coverage
- Hiring and training
- Develops and implements policies and procedures
- Works closely with the VP of Mountain Operations and the patrol leadership group to set operational objectives
- Closely coordinates with the Assistant Director, Snow Safety and other Patrol management to coordinate staffing, training, avalanche mitigation support, operational priorities, and emergency response readiness across the mountain
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent experience
- Three years of experience as top-level Ski Patroller
- Two years of experience supervising a Ski Patrol operation
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Professional Ski Patroller in a Class A Avalanche rated ski resort and meet the requirements of a TT-D Mammoth Patroller
- Experience managing people and risks in high consequence environments

$123,932.02 - $133,655.840 per year
