Director & Senior Corporate Counsel (Full-time Permanent)
About the role
The Director & Senior Corporate Counsel will serve as a key member of the Law Department, providing strategic legal advice and support to the Company's registry and product and marketing businesses.
Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of complex commercial agreements (e.g., inbound and outbound technology licenses, service agreements, co-marketing and co-branding agreements, and software and SaaS agreements)
- Provide strategic legal advice to the Law Department and senior business unit leaders regarding the Company’s registry and product and marketing businesses
- Advises on contract interpretations and risk, policies and regulations related to the Company’s registry business, new product initiatives, advertising content and agreements, customer contract issues, and marketing programs
- Understand and leverage internal and external resources to ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations related to the Company’s products and advertising, as well as top level domain registry operations
- Operate in an open and collaborative manner as a “team player”
Requirements
- 12+ years of in-house legal experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, providing strategic legal advice to business leaders, and supporting the development and launch of new products and services in the technology field
- J.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing in the state of Virginia or eligible for admission as a Virginia Corporate Counsel
- Experience drafting complex commercial agreements and leading negotiations, with an emphasis on technology and content licensing
- Experience supporting the development and launch of new products and services
- Aptitude to quickly absorb and apply new information and function as a trusted legal advisor with direct interaction with senior management
- Excellent attention to detail, superior oral and written communication skills, ability to deliver understandable and practice advice, and demonstrate well-honed analytical and project management skills
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to drive projects, identify and resolve issues and earn the confidence and cooperation of business leaders and legal colleagues
- Able to multi-task, organize, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and interface with all levels of management
- Eager to learn new industries, build new skills, and develop knowledge in emerging technologies

- Compensation: The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $270,000. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
