Director Resident Relations
About the Role

This full-time salaried position is responsible for managing all aspects of resident satisfaction and care, including identifying resources for health, social, and emotional needs and coordinating support services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the admission, move-in, and orientation process for all new residents in independent and assisted living.
- Work with Sales/Marketing and Environmental Services to ensure a smooth move-in process.
- Provide support to new residents to ensure a smooth integration into community life and activities.
- Collaborate with the Resident Welcoming Committee, Wellness Team, Director of Creative Living, Chaplain, and others to support resident life.
- Assist residents in problem-solving and accessing needed services, implementing programs to maintain or enhance resident independence using community resources.
- Participate in resident assessments and reassessments, ensuring residents, families, and/or responsible parties understand the process and results.
- Serve as the primary liaison between residents’ family members/responsible parties and team members to address concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, issues, and resolutions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure quality of care and set standards that create a sense of security for residents.
- Encourage residents and family members/responsible parties to take an active role in care planning and maintenance.
- Coordinate resident transfers and discharges with residents, families, and team members, including completing necessary paperwork.
- Maintain and update the Resident Directory for accuracy and accessibility.
- Review and revise the Resident Handbook to reflect current policies and procedures.
- Conduct investigations related to resident theft or loss incidents in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform pet assessments and oversee pet-related matters in accordance with community guidelines.
- Oversee the resident survey process and coordinate follow-up as needed.
- Assign and manage resident parking spaces according to community policies and availability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, gerontology, healthcare, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience working with older adults, preferably in a long-term care setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
