Director Real Estate Capital Markets

About the role

Develops and recommends real estate objectives, goals, and procedures for Real Estate Capital Markets. Coordinates and reviews third-party due diligence materials, prepares or negotiates market-clearing provisions in legal documents, and reviews or assists with edits of deal financial models. Answers questions from third-party lenders and borrowers regarding these materials. Represents the Real Estate Capital Markets Group in discussions with senior management, credit committees, and external stakeholders. Provides marketing support to front office banking and relationship management teams, including preparing or reviewing marketing materials and attending borrower meetings. Assists with internal projects to build out the group and improve processes. Serves as the primary contact for assigned transactions with lenders, credit administrators, senior management, and loan officers. Maintains awareness of market and industry trends, prepares internal communications, and cultivates relationships with business units. Has authority to issue signed real estate capital markets opinions and is responsible for resulting market risk outcomes. Includes direct supervisory responsibilities and quantitative production targets. Significant travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and recommend real estate objectives, goals, and procedures for Real Estate Capital Markets.
• Prepare and negotiate market-clearing provisions in legal documents.
• Coordinate and review third-party due diligence materials.

• Address questions and comments from third-party lenders and borrowers.
• Represent the Real Estate Capital Markets Group in discussions with senior management and credit committees.
• Provide marketing support to front office banking and relationship management teams.
• Prepare or review marketing materials for borrowers and third-party lenders.
• Attend borrower meetings to represent the group alongside banking and relationship management teams.
• Represent the bank in interactions with third-party lenders via phone, offsite meetings, and conferences.
• Assist with internal projects to build out the group and improve processes.
• Serve as the primary contact for assigned transactions with lenders, credit administrators, senior management, and loan officers.
• Stay current on market and industry trends.
• Coordinate preparation and updates of internal communications and reports for senior management.
• Maintain active outreach to assigned business units and cultivate relationships with bankers and managers.
• Issue signed real estate capital markets opinions and manage resulting market risk outcomes.
• Oversee direct supervisory responsibilities and meet quantitative production targets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field, with 12+ years of related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
• Demonstrated track record of high academic achievement.
• 7+ years of direct experience in commercial banking, investment banking, leveraged finance, or other debt capital markets-oriented roles.
• Some supervisory or management experience required.
• In-depth knowledge of real estate capital markets, complex credit structures, credit analysis, and administration policies.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-resolution skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
• Extensive knowledge in the assigned lending specialty or market segment.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated management skills.
• Extensive professional network of relevant industry contacts.
