About the role
The Director of Quality at California Hospital Medical Center oversees Quality Management, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention services. This role involves leading ongoing quality improvement initiatives, making data-driven decisions to ensure high-quality patient care, and collaborating with healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Analyze data and implement strategies for performance improvements, quality outcomes, risk reduction, patient safety, and infection control.
- Apply experience in clinical practice, operations, data analysis, and technology to build on the organization's culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage projects and coach team members to achieve optimal performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or five (5) years of related job or industry experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management responsibility in a healthcare setting, with two (2) years related to managing an acute care organization’s Quality Improvement Program.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical, patient care experience or equivalent.
- Current State License in a clinical field required, or five (5) years' experience in Quality Management can be used in lieu of state license.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Healthcare Quality and Management Certification (HCQM), or Certificate of Professional Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (CPQPS) within 2 years of employment is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare related laws and regulations.
- Experience developing and implementing clinical, service, and operational process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge and expertise in specific performance improvement/CQI methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, LEAN).
- Experience with event reporting process, root cause analyses, and event investigation/review.
- Experience with patient compliant/grievance investigations and prompt resolution.
- Knowledge of risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and steps to reduce these risks.
- Familiarity with legal documents related to hospital liability.
- Ability to manage collaboratively and coach others.
Qualifications

Pay
The posted compensation range of $69.27 - $103.04 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
