About the role
The Director of Quality at Mercy San Juan Medical Center leads ongoing quality improvement initiatives, ensuring high-quality care and positive outcomes for patients. This role involves making data-driven decisions, analyzing data, and implementing strategies for performance improvements, quality outcomes, risk reduction, patient safety, and infection control.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality improvement initiatives across various healthcare professionals.
- Make data-driven decisions to ensure high-quality care for patients.
- Analyze data and implement strategies for performance improvements, quality outcomes, risk reduction, patient safety, and infection control.
- Apply experience in clinical practice, operations, data analysis, and technology to build on the culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure teams move forward with current initiatives through project management skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required, or five (5) years of related job or industry experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management responsibility in a healthcare setting, two (2) of which is related to managing an acute care organization’s Quality Improvement Program, required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical, patient care experience or equivalent required.
- A current State License in a clinical field required. Five (5) years' experience in Quality Management can be used in lieu of state license.
- A Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Healthcare Quality and Management Certification (HCQM), or Certificate of Professional Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (CPQPS) within 2 years of employment is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare related laws and regulations.
- Experience developing and implementing clinical, service, and operational process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge and expertise in specific performance improvement/CQI methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, LEAN).
- Current knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements for acute and ambulatory care services.
- Experience with the event reporting process, root cause analyses, and event investigation/review.
- Experience with patient compliant/grievance investigations and prompt resolution.
- Knowledge of risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and steps to reduce these risks.
- Familiarity with legal documents related to hospital liability.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and control processes.
- Ability to manage collaboratively and coach others to achieve optimal performance.

Pay
The posted compensation range is $66.26 - $98.56 /hour, which is a reasonable estimate based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit Health may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
