About the role
This leader will oversee chemical safety and food toxicology strategy, serving as a key technical authority across ingredient approval, testing, and hazard evaluation activities. The role partners closely with internal teams, external laboratories, and regulatory stakeholders to strengthen product safety and compliance. This position also plays an important leadership role in shaping incident response, educating teams, and aligning quality practices with evolving consumer and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategy for chemical safety and food toxicology
- Serve as the subject matter expert on toxicological and chemical hazard evaluations
- Approve ingredients and materials through commercialization processes
- Guide testing strategies with internal and external laboratories
- Lead responses to chemical safety incidents and regulatory inquiries
- Monitor trends in chemical safety and consumer expectations
- Provide training and education on chemical hazard awareness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Ph.D. in a related field preferred
- 15+ years of experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods sectors
- Demonstrated leadership in chemical safety and food toxicology
- Experience with FDA, USDA, and international regulatory agencies
- Strong background in food manufacturing and analytical chemistry oversight
- Knowledge of analytical equipment, including GC/MS, LC/QTOF, and ICPMS
- Proven ability to manage and develop technical teams

Pay
$170,200 – $234,100 annually
