About the role
The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for developing goals, objectives, and the organization's quality strategies. They execute alignment of procedures, processes, and resources related to the Quality Management System and drive the Quality Engineering team, Nondestructive Test Lab, Receiving and In-process Inspection, Calibration, and internal auditing.
Responsibilities
- Developing overall culture for continuous improvement in Quality
- Promote an "end to end" focus on Lean & Quality from suppliers, through manufacturing processes, and ultimately to internal and external customers
- Ensure all ISO 9001/AS9100 processes are followed, audited, and documented showing impartial evidence of compliance
- Drive implementation of the Textron Systems Quality Management System (QMS)
- Drive use of standardized lean and quality tools, share best practices, and benchmark against world-class companies to achieve a higher level of Operational Excellence
- Evaluate organizational design and recommend improvements to optimize resources
- Plan, assign, and direct work, provide promotional and salary recommendations, coach, train, and develop talent and performance manage employees accordingly
- Participate in due diligence activities for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Develop and execute roadmap to achieve a long-term Quality vision
- Assure the requirements of our ISO 9001/AS9100 and other quality management systems are maintained
- This includes quality reporting, corrective/preventative actions, Internal Auditing System, and customer complaint tracking
- Develop and execute Quality Strategies in support of New Product Development (NPD) that satisfy near-term demands of development programs and support a long-term vision of transitioning to a full-rate production
- Analyze data, identify areas of opportunity, and implement kaizen activities or corrective actions to address quality problem areas/opportunities
- Communicate problems & resolutions to customers and senior management
- Maintain the Quality score cards by Work Call, Product Family, and Supplier
- Develop quality plans in support of proposals and awarded programs
- Manage Capital, Point of Control, and Expense budgets associated with Quality operations and improvements
- Exercise timely effective Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge/experience in Aerospace best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Science or Mathematics
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior level, lean and or quality leadership role preferably in a DOD or Aerospace Environment
- Successful track record of talent development and performance management
- Strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities
- Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, e-mail
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions
- Must have demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
