Director - Project & Construction Management

Responsibilities

• Provide management oversight, direction, and mentoring to project management staff as well as other campus and facilities management staff assigned.
• Achieve the cost, schedule, and quality objectives of projects as assigned by the Division Chair.
• Advise Chair and administrative staff of project progress, and proactively work with internal and external groups to successfully manage all phases of the process, including initiation, programming, approvals, design, construction, and occupancy.
• Collaborate with the Director of Planning and Design to ensure user group needs are addressed during the design phase and apprise users of project progress during design and construction phases.
• Make timely decisions and build unique teams comprised of internal groups and outside resources.
• Manage assigned multiple facilities projects simultaneously, from work orders to $100 million+, for all project phases.
• Provide off-hours general oversight of assigned projects as required.
• Establish vision, policies, procedures, and continuous quality initiatives for assigned groups.
• Evaluate performance of the section and make recommendations and adjustments to staffing for optimal performance.
• Promote professionalism within the section.
• Monitor and be responsible for the financial performance of the section, making adjustments to align with financial goals while maintaining high-quality service.
• Interpret regulatory standards as they apply to the operation of the units and implement required processes for compliance.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in project or construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, plus 10 years post-academic experience managing design and construction phases for projects (minimum).
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree and 12 years’ post-academic experience managing large-scale organization or healthcare-related design and construction phases for projects, including estimating, contract, and construction documentation administration experience.
• Estimating experience and a thorough understanding of various project delivery systems required.
• Ability to administer contracts and construction documents required.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively balance the workload of various projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated communication/interpersonal skills, ability to compose correspondence and memoranda, and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling computer programs required.
• Must remain current in the project and construction management industry regarding processes, technology, and project delivery methods.
• Demonstrated project management skills and initiative.
• LEED certification preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

$149,801.60 - $224,764.80 / year

• Schedule Details: M-F 8-5 with additional hours as needed.
