Director, Product Manager, Retail Bank, Signature Experiences
Capital One is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the digital product strategy for our Café experience—shaping how millions of customers and prospects discover, engage with, and experience Capital One across our physical and digital ecosystem. This role will own the portfolio of digital products and capabilities that bring the Café experience to life, from discovery to personalized engagement, while managing a team of Product and Project Managers and partnering across Design, Technology, Analytics, Marketing, Retail, Operations, and the broader enterprise.
About the Role
This leader will set the vision for a product portfolio unlike most in financial services, bridging physical and digital customer experiences. You’ll influence how Capital One connects its physical presence with its digital ecosystem, equip frontline teams with better technology, and define how emerging capabilities like AI and personalization transform in-person banking. The mandate is broad, the problems are complex, and the opportunity to build something differentiated is significant.
Responsibilities
- Set the product vision and strategy: Define and lead the multi-year digital product strategy for the Café experience, connecting customer needs, business priorities, and technology opportunities. Translate opportunities into a clear product vision, roadmap, and investment strategy, using data and experimentation to refine priorities.
- Build connected physical + digital experiences: Reimagine how digital capabilities can make Capital One’s physical presence more discoverable and differentiated. Own experiences that help customers discover Cafés, locations, events, and services through digital channels, and create seamless journeys connecting digital discovery with in-person engagement.
- Empower our Ambassadors: Lead the evolution of digital products and platforms used by Café and branch Ambassadors. Simplify fragmented experiences, create intuitive tools, and explore how AI and emerging technologies can provide Ambassadors with contextual information and support.
- Lead with strong product and technical judgment: Partner deeply with Technology and Design to build scalable, resilient, and intuitive products. Understand technical tradeoffs, balance innovation with disciplined investment, and foster a test-and-learn culture tied to meaningful outcomes.
- Build and develop an exceptional team: Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Managers responsible for customer- and associate-facing products. Set a high bar for product craft, strategic thinking, and execution while empowering individual leaders to own outcomes.
- Influence across a complex organization: Build strong partnerships across Product, Technology, Design, Analytics, Marketing, Operations, Risk, and other enterprise teams. Translate complex product decisions into clear business narratives for senior executives and navigate competing priorities.
Qualifications
- Significant experience leading complex digital products and product portfolios.
- Demonstrated success setting product strategy and translating it into measurable customer and business outcomes.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to connect product investments to enterprise priorities.
- Technical fluency and experience partnering with engineering leaders on architecture, platform strategy, resiliency, and emerging technologies.
- Experience using data, customer research, and experimentation to make product decisions.
- A track record of leading and developing high-performing Product Managers.
- Exceptional communication and executive storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience navigating highly matrixed organizations and building alignment across diverse partners.
- A customer-first mindset paired with a willingness to challenge assumptions and make difficult tradeoffs.
