Summary

The Plant Director is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of the long- and short-range business objectives. Manages total plant operations, personnel development, financial forecast and budget, and regulatory compliance for Gas & Oil power plant(s). Oversees compliance with environmental regulations, including air, water, solid and hazardous wastes. Plays a key leadership role in business decision-making, problem solving, leadership development and performance management.

Minimum Requirements

- A four-year Bachelors degree in Engineering, Management, Business or other job related field from an accredited college or university - Plus ten (10) years power plant/electric generation experience. - Five (5) years of supervisory/management experience. - In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in power plant operations equaling 14 years.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

- In-depth technical knowledge of plant operations and maintenance. - Excellent decision making, interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to mentor and develop operations, maintenance and support staff employees. - Thorough knowledge of environmental, O.S.H.A. and labor regulatory/contract requirements applicable to electric power plants.

Major Accountabilities

1) Plans, evaluates and recommends strategies, programs, policies and processes for Gas & Oil power plant(s) that align and support the overall business objectives. Directs and coordinates all facets of plant operations including the maintenance and general administration of the plant. 2) Develops and manages a safety program that achieves the lowest possible AIIR, LWIR, SIR and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements. 3) Oversees compliance with environmental regulations. Ensures employees are appropriately trained and manages all activities to assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Ensures the Environmental Management System (EMS) is established and maintained in accordance with the environmental policy and ISO 14001. 4) Oversees and leads the development and implementation of an effective training program for technical and management employees to ensure optimum generation in concert with system requirements to reduce the probability of major equipment failure as measured by production, EAF, EFOR, SOR. 5) Provides sound financial management by ensuring facilities operate and are maintained at the lowest possible O&M and capital cost. Controls budgets and cash flow anticipating resource requirements and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Full authority for the development and management of the units budget. 6) Selects and develops a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and development opportunities. 7) Maintains excellent community and participant relations.
