Director Perioperative Services
About the role
The Director, Perioperative Services leads multidisciplinary teams in perioperative patient care units and departments, providing administrative authority and multidisciplinary leadership.
Responsibilities
- Resource Utilization: Integrates nursing process into business decisions, optimizes fiscal resource allocation, and promotes the appropriate use of innovative applications and new technologies.
- Leadership: Promotes a positive professional image of nursing, supports the development of managers and staff, and fosters a collaborative practice model.
- Financial Management and Resource Utilization: Develops, monitors, and analyzes budgets, ensures economic performance aligns with budget plans, and considers safety, effectiveness, and cost factors.
- Communication: Defines strategic issues clearly, promotes open information flow, and delivers clear, convincing presentations.
- Collaboration: Facilitates development and management of care delivery processes, incorporates the nursing process, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and partners with physicians to meet patient needs.
- Quality and Performance Improvement: Identifies opportunities for performance improvement, implements quality initiatives, enhances nursing practice, and evaluates the practice environment.
- Customer Satisfaction: Develops strategies to achieve the hospital's goal for customer satisfaction in each patient care unit.
- Ethics: Demonstrates competencies in the four core values of the St. Joseph Health System and integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with a Master’s Degree in relevant field of management, policy, or administration required upon hire. California Registered Nurse License is also required.
Qualifications
- 10 or more years of nursing experience, with 3 years in nursing administration.

Pay
The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position.
