Director, People & Organization
About the Role
As a member of the Site Management team, the incumbent will set the strategic direction and agenda within all people-related processes and organizational development to enable business priorities and Drug Product Manufacturing (DPM) US People & Organization (P&O) priorities. This role acts as the trusted advisor for the Site Head and the Site Leadership team, ensuring world-class P&O initiatives, operations, and processes that are "fit for purpose" at production sites. Additional responsibilities may include leading M&A or greenfield integration activities.
Relationships
The incumbent reports directly to the Head of P&O for DPM US with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Site Head. This role interacts with all levels of the business, partners heavily with the assigned Site Leadership Team, and manages a local P&O team of HR Business Partners and other HR functions. Collaboration with other P&O functions, Centers of Excellence, legal, and external stakeholders/vendors is essential. The role also involves a close partnership with the Associate Director, Training DPM US, with overall accountability for training strategy at the site.
Responsibilities
- Act as the trusted strategic P&O Partner and advisor for the Site Head and Site Leadership team.
- Own the P&O agenda at the site(s) for culture and engagement, organizational development, change management, talent development, strategic workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and local P&O operational excellence.
- Develop and drive P&O strategies and priorities aligned with business and Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS)/DPM US P&O priorities.
- Lead discussions on organizational response and development for business challenges as part of the Business Review process.
- Serve as the formal owner of training strategy and capability development at the site(s), while the DPM US Training organization handles execution and delivery.
- Assess and improve P&O processes and procedures, including the employee life cycle (attraction, onboarding, development, performance, rewards, and exit).
- Lead the P&O team by providing clear feedback on performance and behaviors while empowering direct reports.
- Role model Enterprise Leadership and execute strategic priorities by aligning, designing, and ensuring scalable solutions across DPM US sites.
- Lead special projects supporting business strategy, such as P&O response to M&A integration activities or greenfield project handover to operations.
- Champion and role model company values, effective collaboration, and P&O shop floor presence to understand and escalate P&O-related issues.
- Perform duties in alignment with global and local policies, including P&O, legal, safety, and environmental guidelines.

Development of People
- Ensure reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDPs) with annual goals and measurements aligned with business priorities.
- Conduct interim reviews to focus work on priorities and clarify accountability for results.
- Include learning and aspiration plans in IDPs to enable goal achievement and capability development.
- Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and the Novo Nordisk Way.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or a relevant field from an accredited university (required).
- Master’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or a relevant field (preferred).
- PHR or SPHR certification (preferred).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of broad human resources management experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of direct people management experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of Human Resource functions and processes, including driving HR Annual Wheel activities and strategic P&O processes.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment law at the federal, state, and local levels, including Affirmative Action requirements (preferred).
- Experience with organizational mergers, acquisitions, and integrations (preferred).
- Experience working with senior leadership teams, strong stakeholder relationships, and cross-functional collaboration (required).
- Experience working on the shop floor (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an open office environment and shop floor with frequent distractions.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
