Director, Origination
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and develop sponsor relationships to originate deal flow
- Screen and identify attractive transaction opportunities to pursue
- Manage internal investment approval process, including oversight and presentation of analyses and materials to the firm’s investment committee
- Develop transaction structure and negotiate deal terms with sponsor and borrower
- Spearhead due diligence process, including external diligence meetings and calls
- Lead legal documentation review and negotiation
- Monitor ongoing performance of existing credits
Desired Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of overall experience with 6-10+ years of experience at a buy-side credit / direct lending fund, leverage finance or debt capital markets at an investment bank. Relevant sponsor coverage is a positive.
- Considerable deal execution experience with proven ability to drive deal process
- Good communicator, with ability to interface with sponsors and management teams, and spearhead negotiations
- Strong academic record, including a bachelor’s degree
- Excellent financial modeling skills
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel
- Preference given to candidates in Boston, Chicago and South Florida and open to other locations
Compensation Range
Compensation Range: $200,000–$250,000, plus a competitive bonus

Director, Origination at Deerpath Capital is responsible for managing and developing sponsor relationships to originate deal flow, screen and identify attractive transaction opportunities, manage internal investment approval process, develop transaction structure and negotiate deal terms with sponsor and borrower, spearhead due diligence process, lead legal documentation review and negotiation, and monitor ongoing performance of existing credits. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of overall experience with 6-10+ years of experience at a buy-side credit / direct lending fund, leverage finance or debt capital markets at an investment bank. Relevant sponsor coverage is a positive. They should also have considerable deal execution experience with proven ability to drive deal process, good communication skills, strong academic record, excellent financial modeling skills, ability to work independently, and willingness to travel. Preference is given to candidates in Boston, Chicago and South Florida and open to other locations. Compensation range is $200,000–$250,000, plus a competitive bonus.
