About the role
The Director OR Senior Director for Access and Equity & Title IX Coordinator reports to the Vice Chancellor, Finance & Administration. The University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system and serves more than 4,000 students in 44 graduate and 56 undergraduate programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with Title IX, Equal Employment Opportunity and other federal regulations, state civil rights requirements, and other applicable laws
- Trains students, faculty, and staff on Title IX obligations and raises awareness of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
- Performs special projects and studies related to the work of the office
- Investigates complaints of discrimination, including sexual harassment
- Monitors the implementation of civil rights laws and regulations including admissions, education programs, and activities
- Collaborates with other professionals, such as the cabinet, deans, faculty, staff, related offices, committees, human resources, and legal counsel
- Serves as the University’s coordinator of compliance for EEO regulations, Title VI, and Title VII
- Maintains policies, guidelines, and procedures for adjudicating informal and formal complaints of sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking
- Oversees the implementation of appropriate supportive measures for all individuals reporting sexual misconduct
- Develops and coordinates Title IX education and sexual misconduct prevention plan for campus community
- Develops and directs the implementation of training and support materials for search committees and hiring managers to address implicit bias and to promote inclusive hiring practices
- Manages the development of affirmative action compliance plans, including the collection and analysis of data, creation of executive summaries for senior leadership, development and assessment of data-informed hiring goals, and the maintenance of records in accordance with applicable regulations
- Serves as campus ADA and 504 Coordinator; oversees the interactive and approval process for workplace accommodations; advises and provides compliance oversight to campus administrators regarding accessibility compliance
- Develops and delivers, maintains, and assists with diversity, inclusion, and belonging, equal opportunity, nondiscrimination, and inclusive training such as: search committee training and orientation; non-discrimination training; implicit bias training; Title IX and Title VII training; ADA training, etc.
- Oversees and supervises office staff and operations; including the monitoring of office budgets and external contracts
- Creates and oversees the maintenance of reporting systems, web sites, and AEO-related programming logistics
- Identifies and engages campus and community stakeholders to promote diversity and inclusion initiatives
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: Title IX; Title VII, ADA, Affirmative Action Reporting, Student Affairs; Equity, Diversity and/or Inclusion
- Experience and proficiency in managing external complaints with administrative agencies, including investigation, witness preparation, position statements (written and oral), and compliance monitoring
- Project management and workgroup facilitation experience
- Strong commitment to affirmative action, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
