About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of On-site Technology Management with extensive experience in managing technology for large-scale events. The onsite technology management team will play a crucial role in the successful execution of the Official Hospitality Program for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all event technology and IT infrastructure, including planning, implementation, and Games time operations.
  • Manage the Cluster and Venue Technology Managers for all offsite and competition venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Act as the technical liaison between LA28’s functional areas and our internal functional areas, including Technology, Event Production, Security, and Workforce.
  • Hire, cultivate, and manage Cluster and Venue Technology managers as the primary point of contact for our internal and external clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely communication and coordination among all necessary parties.
  • Develop and manage a team of technology professionals to ensure all technology-related activities are performed effectively and efficiently for all on-site and off-site venues.
  • Work closely with each Functional Area of the project to ensure each FA's technology needs are collected and presented to our corporate technology teams for assessment, procurement, allocation, and management in accordance with On Location's corporate technology standards and policies.
  • Work with our corporate procurement and technology teams to identify vendors for equipment needs and, if necessary, negotiate contracts.
  • Ensure that all technology-related activities comply with US regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for all technology systems to ensure business continuity for all on-site and off-site venues before, during, and after Games time.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of technology-related activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery of technology solutions and services.
  • Work closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure all vendors are onboarded with ongoing tracking of invoicing and payments for all vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage the overall budget for technology-related expenses and ensure that all expenditures are within budgetary constraints for the Hospitality Program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology management, project management, and/or business operations with a strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including networking, software, and hardware platforms, preferably in the ticketing, travel, or hospitality industry.
  • Experience working in a client-facing role, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of managing technology infrastructure and delivering successful technology solutions for large-scale events.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize budgeting, tasking, and prioritization for timely delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve common goals while working under pressure to meet deadlines of time-sensitive projects.
  • Experience in recruiting and leading cross-functional teams and managing complex technology projects.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a technology role in previous medium to large-scale events such as World Cups and/or Commonwealth, Euros, and Olympic Games.
  • Licensed to operate a vehicle in California.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in verbal and written English is required.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written Spanish language is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in the ticketing, travel, or hospitality industry is preferred but not mandatory.

Pay

Hiring Rate: Minimum $123,750 annually(minimum will not fall below the applicable State/local minimum salary thresholds) Hiring Rate: Maximum $165,000 annually

This position is based in Los Angeles, CA. Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the hourly rate shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.
