About the role

Transform healthcare within the area of responsibility by collaborating with senior management, directors, physicians, nursing, allied health staff, patients, and vendors internal and external to the healthcare environment. Decisions made impact quality of services, care, fiscal results, goal attainment, and employee development and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive oncology quality strategy aligned with organizational priorities and cancer program growth objectives.
  • Define, monitor, and report programmatic KPIs across medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion services, and supportive care.
  • Translate complex clinical and operational data into meaningful reports for oncology leadership, executive teams, and board committees.
  • Leverage registry data for quality studies, benchmarking, and program improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely delivery of actionable insights to support clinical decision-making, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
  • Manage multiple departments, as well as designated administrative and support staff to assure cost effectiveness and achievement of goals and budgets.
  • Plan the implementation of directives, standard policies and procedures and protocols as approved by senior management or the board of directors.
  • Plan for growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities, and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Utilize developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
  • Plan operational plans and fiscal management including budget development, implementation, and monitoring for multiple departments.
  • Support service line mission and meet goals and scorecard objectives utilizing a system approach.
  • Align work with strategic goals.
  • Affirm compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Deliver the best in customer service and patient care.
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors, and other employees.
  • Champion Carilion's mission, vision, and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent 8 years of experience required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years experience in management, preferably in oncology and/or healthcare environment.
  • Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence.
  • Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement.
