About the role

The Director of Young Adult Ministry and Coordinator of the Connects Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Cary, North Carolina (First Cary) serves to guide the ministry of young adults (ages 18-35) in their faith growth and discipleship, while fostering connections across the congregation.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and vision for the Young Adult Ministry through discipleship opportunities, small groups, social gatherings, service opportunities, and leadership development.
• Work alongside the Pastor of Care and Connection to welcome newcomers, strengthen congregational engagement, and foster a culture of connection throughout the church.

Requirements

• A passion for ministry with young adults.
• A love for relationship building.
• A commitment to helping people take next steps in their faith journey.
• A growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Collaborative working style with clergy, staff, and laity.
• Experience in ministry with young adults, college students, or youth (preferred).
• A theological degree or equivalent ministry experience (preferred).

• Sunday morning and occasional evening presence required.
