Department/Unit: Surgery Vascular Tech Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $130,842.00 - $209,347.00 Director of Vascular Surgery Lab Vascular Surgery Department Albany, NY The Director is responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of the Karmody Vascular Laboratory. This position plans, directs, and supervises all administrative and operational aspects of the laboratory services and staff. Responsible for evaluation and control of such assigned activities on a continuing basis to insure compliance with all applicable standards, mandates, regulations, requirements, and guidelines, while remaining within budgetary allocations provided by the Vascular Surgery Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for insuring that there is sufficient space, equipment and supplies necessary to perform required services with optimal accuracy, precision efficiency, timeliness, and safetyRecommends action to the Practice Administrator In regards to plan, equipment, and inventory needs and modifications and essential services and staffingResponsible for laboratory PACS and reporting system, insuring continual operation, appropriate performance and maintenanceResponsible for proper function, calibration and maintenance of all diagnostic laboratory equipmentInsures proper billing practices are followed and required documentation is completedResponsible for maintaining administrative and data information records of assigned activities and personnel, including related data, personnel records, and budget formsResponsible for all administrative activities and documentation of an appropriate quality assurance programResponsible for the provision of, participation in, and documentation of, appropriate orientation and in service education programs for the staffMay delegate duties related to the above administrative and operational tasks to appropriate and qualified members of the staff, but retains ultimate responsibility for their accomplishmentResponsible for maintaining accreditation of the laboratory by the intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular LaboratoriesResponsible for insuring that channels of communication within and between other departments and with outside services and agencies are maintained as appropriateWill keep abreast of new products, procedures, methods and equipment through personal study and attendance at educational seminars; and will participate in the evaluation and application of these products, procedures, methods, and equipment within the laboratoryFunctions as a Vascular Technologist Ill in accordance with the job description for that positionAssures timely completion of all laboratory examination requests. Will triage requests and postpone non-urgent examinations when necessary while providing proper notification to and coordinating with referring physician. Responsible for appropriate teaching of students, technologists, residents and staff when necessaryPerforms other related duties as required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a medical or scientific discipline is requiredMinimum of 4 years working in a vascular laboratory is requiredARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Upon Hire is requiredRVT - Registered Vascular Technologist Upon Hire is required(VS) or Vascular Technology - Vascular Sonography Upon Hire is requiredMust be familiar with all aspects of vascular technology. Must possess leadership skills and abilities to objectively supervise professional and personnel practices and operational activities. Formal exposure to and understanding of general management/administrative principles and functions highly desirable. Able to effectively communicate on a wide range of issues in an age-appropriate manner with patients, staff and visitorsAble to work well with others to accomplish work goals. Must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. Must be respectful of workforce diversity. Must demonstrate good leadership skills. Able to coordinate resources with patient demands; sets priorities for work assigned and achieves desired results. Must be able to design and implement various organizational protocols and policiesAble to collect and analyze ultrasound data and report findings. Must be able to collect and analyze plethysmographic data and report findings. Must be able to operate a computer workstation and understand various programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Able to problem solve. Must be able to adjust staff schedules as needed.
