Pay
Typical pay for this position is $150,000–$160,000 annually. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s unique experience and qualifications and may include a bonus not reflected in the base range.
About the role
The Director of Supply Chain Planning oversees Inventory and Supply Planning processes across Horizon Hobby’s global supply chain. This leader aligns Supply Chain processes and initiatives to support corporate growth and profitability, drives continuous improvement, and serves on Horizon’s operations leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Full oversight of all inventory and supply planning processes, including strategy development, execution, and continuous adjustment based on Horizon’s near- and long-term strategies.
- Develop annual global inventory targets and strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Product Development teams to optimize inventory turns while maintaining targeted in-stock and fill rates, supporting Horizon’s growth strategies and achieving strong Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI).
- Develop and implement best-practice Customer Facing KPIs such as On-Time Deliveries, In-Stock and Fill Rate, Inventory Coverage, and Forecast Measurements to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead Supply Chain Management teams (supply, analytics) that provide ongoing support to Horizon’s Brand Operating Model, offering input, recommendations, and analytics on business, brand, and product lifecycle performance versus forecast and budget to improve performance and mitigate risks.
- Coach and develop team members to achieve their career aspirations while fostering a “wellbeing” culture.
- Lead the S&OP process, connecting demand and customer signals into inventory strategies and plans, executing and monitoring supply and manufacturing plans, and continuously adjusting performance.
- Guide Inventory and Supply Planners with aligned goals to meet business objectives while optimizing inventory/working capital and achieving a minimum fill rate target of 90%.
- Provide continuous inventory analysis and forecasts for risk management and business/financial planning, developing early warning indicators for potential deviations from the plan.
- Identify and deploy tools and automation to improve data accuracy, efficiency, speed to action, and enable the SCM team to focus on exceptions, risks, and opportunities.
- Accountable for inventory levels, service levels, and supply performance.
- Develop and manage supplier relationships, holding suppliers and supply chain planning accountable for meeting required performance levels.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Quality to strengthen relationships with core suppliers of Horizon’s proprietary products, implementing initiatives to shorten lead times and improve delivery performance.
- Develop and manage capacity plans for each key proprietary vendor, assessing actual production performance against planned output, and implementing tools, reports, and systems to measure and manage vendor performance.
- Establish data-driven New Product launch plans to ensure fill rate protection while minimizing E&O exposure, considering Horizon’s long lead-time variables.
- Identify, understand, and resolve known supply constraints or excess inventory risks, and communicate risks through the S&OP process.
- Establish and implement continuous improvement tools and processes.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business; Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant business and leadership experience within Supply Chain.
- APICS/CPIM Certification preferred.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills to build strong work relationships at all organizational levels.
- Ability to synthesize information and create clear synopses of key issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and work independently.
- Attention to detail and professional judgment in sound decision-making.
