Director of Supply Chain

Location: Goldsboro / Raleigh, NC preferred (hub presence desired); open to relocation with assistance provided.

About the Role

This position reports to the CEO and oversees a national distribution network of 6 to 7 third-party logistics centers, consolidating toward 4 to 5. The role manages national LTL and truckload freight of large, palletized equipment and leads a team of 4 to 6 warehouse and distribution staff, 1 to 2 shipping analysts, and a customer service team of 6 to 7.

Responsibilities

• Lead and optimize the company's nationwide third-party logistics (3PL) network, including evaluating provider performance, consolidating distribution locations, and strengthening strategic partnerships.
• Oversee LTL and truckload transportation for large, palletized commercial equipment, ensuring high service levels and cost-effective freight operations.
• Manage warehouse and distribution operations across multiple facilities while leading warehouse personnel and shipping analysts.
• Provide leadership for the customer service and order management function, ensuring exceptional customer support and efficient order fulfillment.
• Develop operational metrics and performance dashboards to monitor inventory accuracy, service levels, freight spend, and distribution efficiency.
• Partner closely with executive leadership, finance, sales, and operations to align supply chain strategy with the company's continued growth and product expansion initiatives.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that enhance operational performance and contribute to profitability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution leadership.
• Demonstrated success managing warehouse operations, third-party logistics providers, and nationwide freight transportation in a hands-on capacity.
• Experience selecting, managing, and optimizing 3PL partnerships, including vendor evaluations, service level agreements (SLAs), performance scorecards, and contract transitions.
• Strong background shipping oversized, palletized commercial products through LTL and truckload carriers.
• Proven ability to improve on-time delivery performance while reducing transportation and distribution costs.
• Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment where initiative, accountability, and hands-on execution are essential.
• Experience utilizing ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to support operational decision-making and network optimization.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within foodservice equipment, commercial equipment, manufacturing, or durable goods distribution.
• Background supporting organizations transitioning from traditional distribution to branded product ownership.
• Familiarity with customer service, order management, or customer operations leadership.
• Experience working within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or rapidly evolving business.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications.
• Demonstrated leadership potential with interest in expanding into broader operational or executive leadership roles.

Pay

$180,000 to $195,000 base, plus 25% to 35% bonus; equity potential for the right candidate.
