Naples Classical Academy is a tuition-free public charter classical school affiliated with Hillsdale College. Our mission is to educate young minds through a classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, emphasizing moral character and civic virtue.
Responsibilities
- Represent and advocate for the student body
- Supervise the student services staff
- Assists with managing department budget
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations
- Handles logistics for student activities and events
- Builds a vision for Student Services and Special Education that aligns with the mission and values of our school
- Builds and leads an effective team to help achieve vision & goals
- Effectively communicates with the community, including parents and outside agencies
- Leverages and builds the talents of those on your team, while providing effective coaching in identified growth areas
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Evaluates personnel and assists in the determination of goals to improve performance
- Supports teachers to ensure instructional improvement and maintain highest instructional standards for all students
- Attends district and administrative meetings and other meetings or events as assigned
- Oversees the District’s implementation of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention programming and all training for department staff
- Oversees the Hospital and Homebound program
- Oversees the implementation of special education services; ensures guidelines, procedures, and instruction are in compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and Board Policy
- Counsels staff on academic instruction, special education services, data-based decision making, IEP and Transition Planning, as well as special education policies, MTSS and procedures
- Aids building personnel with curriculum adaptation, intervention selection and implementation to support students with support needs
- Meets regularly with teachers to help guide, coach, and problem solve with the goal of collaboration
- Coordinates with District Admins as needed
- Coordinates and supervises Extended School Year needs
- Communicates effectively with all parents regarding the needs of students, and complies with communication protocols for special education student needs
- Ensures the school has an appropriate continuum of services and that students are being placed in their least restrictive environment
- Manages and oversees transition services and programming and works with specialists
- Oversees and provides training on digital IEP and records storage
- Oversees the implementation of special education assessments
- Collaborates with school district Special Education department
- Establishes goals and objectives for district aligned Student Services
- Works with Admins to address building needs and create processes and procedures that most effectively support students
- Sought to impart a restorative and rehabilitative approach to student conduct
- Understands the spectrum of student interventions and helps staff implement best practices
- Collaborates with Admins on building a cohesive system which supports students post-secondary success, both academically and socially-emotionally
Qualifications
- Current Professional Educator Certification
- Bachelor's (Master's preferred) Degree in Special Education or related field
- Five years of experience in school administration within the ESE department (special/exceptional services preferred)
- Strong background in special education administration and instruction, including experience with special education processes, procedures and legal requirements, evaluations (both student and teacher), and a deep understanding of IEP development and evaluation
- Strong background in social-emotional learning competencies and experience working with social, emotional, and behavioral intervention teams
