Director of Student Services

About the role

Avon Grove School District seeks an experienced, collaborative, and student-centered educational leader to serve as Director of Student Services. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive educational environment and build strong, collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide K–12 leadership and collaboration across Student Assistance Services and Instructional Program Support; Special Education and Gifted; Psychological, Guidance and Counseling Services; Prevention & School Climate; Nursing and Health Services; Student Attendance and Records; and Homeless Education.
• Serve as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet, contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement.
• Oversee budgeting, fiscal responsibility, and compliance in all areas of student services.
• Support the Safety & Security team as the leader of threat/risk assessments.
• Lead student assistance services including SEL programming; supervise social services, attendance services, and child accounting.
• Coordinate behavioral MTSS and mental health supports within the MTSS model.
• Provide leadership for all aspects of special education programs including Gifted and Related Services; oversee home education and homebound students.
• Act as district liaison with the Chester County Intermediate Unit and other agencies for special education programs, including screening, assessment, and placement.
• Oversee district psychological services; direct and oversee guidance and counseling programs; develop and implement multi-year long-range plans (339 Plan).
• Lead all aspects of student nursing and health services; oversee student attendance from registration through truancy-reduction supports.
• Responsible for all aspects of student records, including policies and procedures for collection, maintenance, and dissemination.
• Ensure access to school for homeless students; collaborate to determine eligibility for McKinney-Vento mandated services.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred in a related field.
• Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in special education and/or a supervisory/principal certificate or Letter of Eligibility.
• Five (5) years of administrative experience; prior experience as a school-level administrator preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in special education and strong knowledge of laws, best practices, and compliance in student services.
• Experience with MTSS, SEL, and school-based mental health systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead systems-level change and to build collaborative teams.

Pay

• Salary range: $129,158 – $193,737
