About the role
The Director of Student Life is the content-area expert in leadership development theory and practice, guiding department personnel, student organization officers and advisors, and future officers to resources and opportunities as needed. This position connects leadership development opportunities to students and organizations.
Responsibilities
- Directs the planning, administration, supervision, and evaluation of co-curricular student engagement programs and services.
- Led the Student Life staff to create semester and yearlong strategic goals and ensure planning and implementation of goals are in congruence with the University’s mission.
- Provides oversight and leadership for campus-wide signature student events and programs.
- Serves as the lead system administrator responsible for maintaining the student engagement management system (HerdLife).
- Implements, designs, and facilitates training and student leadership development, including ongoing student organization officer and advisor support initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education Administration, Leadership Studies)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in higher education, preferably in a leadership development or student affairs role
- Experience with student engagement management systems (e.g., HerdLife)
- Strong understanding of leadership development theories and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
