Director of Staff Development

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Staff Development at Greentree Manor is responsible for leading and coordinating orientation and ongoing education programs for nursing and care staff, ensuring comprehensive training and high-quality resident care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and coordinate orientation and ongoing education programs for all nursing and care staff.
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate in-service and competency training, including classroom sessions and hands-on clinical instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of orientation, in-service attendance, skills assessments, certifications, and training documentation.
• Conduct regular educational needs assessments and develop targeted learning plans.
• Monitor staff competency through ongoing observations, skills checks, and annual performance evaluations.
• Provide leadership during facility surveys related to staff education and competency.
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and other department leaders on quality improvement initiatives and infection control education.
• Coordinate specialized training efforts such as emergency drills and compliance-related sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.
• Graduate of an accredited college nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing settings.
• Experience in nursing education or staff training, including planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well with residents, families, and the care team.
• Leadership mindset with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing others to deliver high-quality care.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
