Director of Sports

What You’ll Do

• Lead Sports Programs — Oversee youth and adult sports leagues, clinics, and activities that keep families active and engaged.
• Grow Your Team — Recruit, train, and support part-time staff and volunteers who bring energy and passion to every program.
• Create Community — Build a fun, inclusive environment where members feel connected and supported.
• Manage Budgets — Ensure programs thrive through smart planning, income growth, and expense management.
• Develop New Initiatives — Bring fresh ideas to life and expand sports offerings across the center.
• Promote Programs — Support marketing, outreach, and promotions to increase visibility and participation.
• Champion Safety — Serve as a First Responder and uphold YMCA safety and risk-management standards.
• Support Campaigns & Events — Participate in the Annual Campaign and help strengthen community partnerships.
• Keep Operations Running Smoothly — Oversee facilities, equipment, scheduling, and program reporting.

What You Bring

• BA/BS in recreation, child development, education, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in sports, recreation, youth development, or YMCA programs
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience supervising staff or volunteers
• Ability to build relationships with families, participants, and community partners
• Comfort managing budgets, schedules, and program operations
• Ability to complete required YMCA trainings within 60–90 days
