Director of Software Development

About the role

Lead a team across North America and Europe building systems for cooling, power, telemetry and monitoring, and operational visibility across AWS' global data centers.

Responsibilities

• Work backwards from a diverse set of engineering and operational use cases
• Partner with leaders and builders across our data center ecosystem - from design engineering and mechanical/electrical engineering to controls engineering and engineering operations technicians
• Lead conceptualization of new software systems and evolution of existing software services
• Deliver results through software development teams
• Partner with peer leaders across the broader data center team to align on strategic direction
• Serve as a technical advisory voice to influence senior infrastructure leadership
• Be a people leader focused on hiring and growth of leaders and engineers on your team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of software development experience
• 10+ years in senior engineering leadership roles
• 10+ years experience driving long-term engineering and product decisions
• Track record of delivering innovative cloud-based applications
• Prominent ability to hire and develop an inclusive organization
• Experience scaling diverse, highly dynamic, and fast-growing technical and product teams

Qualifications

• Experience building software systems for the devices, sensors and control systems domains
• Experience solving customer and technical problems with durable, scalable solutions over multi-year, multi-billion dollar, and multi-organization impact
• Desire and ability to inspire and influence at all levels
• Experience driving complex, cross-organizational projects
