Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing supervision to the Social Services Staff.
- Serve as the primary program liaison to DHS.
- Respond to DHS inquires.
- Provide overall coverage in the absence of the Director.
- Meet all performance expectations established for the shelter by Care for the Homeless.
- Ensure that the program meets the contractual obligations and reporting requirements of the Department of Homeless Services.
- Monitor cases to ensure that client services are provided in a timely fashion.
- Conduct case review audits and create Corrective Action Plans as needed.
- Ensure that all clients are appropriately screened, evaluated, and processed for all potential entitlements.
- Train Case Management staff to identify and develop strategies on how to approach service resistant clients.
- Works with the Director to Act as liaison with the community and all other community stakeholders.
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment for residents and staff while ensuring that residents all are moving towards attainment of supportive housing or independent living.
- Work alongside the Human Resources Department in adhering to the HR Policies and Procedures established in the Employee Handbook.
- Ensure shelter maintains its contractual compliance regarding program goals and objectives.
- Direct supervision of the following personnel: Case Manager, CASAC, and other staff assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-7 years’ successful experience in the fields of: services to homeless people; clinical social work with medically frail, mentally ill, or at-risk populations.
- In addition, successful experience supervising clinical staff.
- Master’s level in Social Work, Mental Health Counselor or Non-Profit Business Administration, or appropriate, equal experience.
Skills
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on face-to-face, empathetic communication with consumers.
- Exceptional leadership skills in dealing with the public, the staff and residents coupled with a personal commitment to serving the poor and disadvantaged.
- Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, people with a mental health diagnosis and medically frail populations.
