About the role

Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders. The Director of School Services is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Educational Services with the development and implementation of the Melmark Pennsylvania’s administrative, operational, and health services in school settings. They ensure the quality of educational and clinical programs under the guidance of the Director of Education and Senior Directors, overseeing the implementation of service delivery and assists with licensing and certification requirements. Given the nature of Melmark’s program, the Director of School Services must be available to fulfill numerous roles during the programming day, including the provision of direct treatment services and the supervision in all programs. The Director of School Services is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Educational Services in the day-to-day operation of the classroom educational services and the implementation and monitoring of all educational and behavioral programming. They review appropriate staffing resources (e.g., numbers of staff, training and supervision of staff) to ensure the delivery of each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP). Utilizes the Melmark Enterprise Data System (MEDS) to develop and measure baseline data and lessons according to the IEP development timeline. They assure implementation of the curriculum in conjunction with the Lead Special Education Teachers under the guidance of the Curriculum Coordinators and Director of Education. The Director of School Services in conjunction with the Senior Director of Clinical Services oversees the behavioral programs developed and that they are appropriate to the ages and populations served.
