About the role

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the overall resort-wide revenue and yield strategies, implementation, and results—including group and transient rooms, group food and beverage, meeting room rental, local catering, outlet, and other revenues. You will maximize profitability for the resort while delivering outstanding guest service, and you will participate in total resort management as a member of the Executive Committee.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize resort revenue.
• Prepare, implement, and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts, and other required reports.
• Develop rates, group ceilings, and deployment strategies through competitive data review, demand analysis, and mix management.
• Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel the sales staff while overseeing compliance with federal, state, and local employment and civil rights laws.
• Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
• Conduct or attend daily business review meetings, weekly strategic sales meetings, management meetings, and other required meetings.
• Manage and direct all advertising, public relations, and promotional activities.
• Achieve and exceed group budgeted room nights and revenue goals annually.
• Analyze and estimate the total value of each piece of business, negotiating for optimum revenue while ensuring excellent customer service.
• Develop and utilize the marketing plan to uncover new and potential business.
• Ensure accuracy in revenue forecasting with the most updated information.
• Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel the sales and marketing team.
• Assist Sales, Catering, and Conference Services in obtaining necessary customer information and closing business as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Five to seven years of sales and marketing leadership in a similar-sized luxury operation preferred.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
• Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budgetary analysis capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of sales and revenue management.
• Ability to assess and evaluate associates’ performance fairly.
• Ability to recruit, supervise, train, and motivate multiple levels of managers.
• Knowledge of the hotel and competitive market.
• Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit at a desk for at least 5 hours per day.
• Walking and standing are required for the remainder of the working day, including traveling to and from meetings.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.

Pay

The base salary wage range for this position is $170,000 to $210,000, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, or gratuities.
