About the role

The Director of Sales & Marketing oversees all aspects of sales, including achieving strategic objectives and business growth potential. They also manage staff, budgets, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Directs sales efforts, ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage and manage the department budget.
  • Ensures timely responses to customer and guest needs.
  • Trains and develops the Sales staff.
  • Develops and implements the Sales annual budget, business/marketing plan, and objectives.
  • Manages asset protection and inventory control.
  • Works closely with management and the community to build business relationships.
  • Assists with life safety and risk management, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Manages preventative maintenance programs and ensures the proper use and maintenance of company assets.
  • Communicates with peers and superiors to obtain consultation, guidance, and approval.
  • Compiles and analyzes corporate and property reports to provide accurate information to management.
  • Completes required and requested reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participates in task forces and committees as requested.
  • Assists the General Manager with the preparation of the annual hotel budget and forecasts.

Qualifications

  • High school education plus a degree in sales & marketing, hospitality management or related major.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify issues.
  • Effective listening, verbal, written, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Ability to assess customer needs and prepare tailored presentations/proposals.
  • Ability to meet/exceed expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and closes.
  • Professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
