Director of Sales - Key Accounts
About the role
Provide leadership and direction to the Key Account Sales Team. In cooperation with other sales directors and the sales administration team, develop systems, processes, procedures, and goal-oriented business plans aligned with the company’s goals to facilitate a customer-focused sales group. Develop hiring and training strategies to ensure long-term customer satisfaction with a well-focused sales team. Provide daily support to Multivac Key Account Sales Managers, including application identification, customer development, and closing business opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction. Work with internal and external marketing teams to recommend organizational adjustments, product changes, or services to meet customer expectations. Extensive travel (possibly in excess of 50%) is expected, both domestically and internationally, to visit customers, supplier partners, trade shows, seminars, and European factories.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages sales/marketing operating budgets, directs sales forecasting activities, and sets performance goals.
- Recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategies to produce the highest possible long-term market share while achieving satisfactory profit/loss ratios.
- Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee achievement of marketing objectives within designated budgets.
- Monitors and reports on competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.
- Participates in the planning and execution of industry-related trade shows.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop, implement, and follow up on sales and marketing programs.
- Travels to plants and major corporations regularly and as needed, representing the company at trade association meetings to promote products and the organization.
- Meets with key clients, assisting Key Account Managers with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
- Manages and directs staff, including recruitment, selection, and development, to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Develops plans for bundling sales, service, parts, training, and systems to enhance business growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business preferred, with a minimum of five years’ industry-related experience, including progressive managerial responsibilities and experience working with multi-plant corporations and corporate headquarters.
- Working knowledge of German or Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Working knowledge of CRM applications required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel.
