About the role
BaySpec, Inc., a San Jose, California-based instrumentation powerhouse, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join its dynamic team. The company is transforming the application of various spectroscopic instruments, including absorption/reflection, fluorescence, Raman, LIBS, cavity ring-down, handheld, and OCT spectroscopic instruments.
Responsibilities
- Identify strategic business segments
- Explore new business opportunities, willing to open up new frontiers
- Make sales calls, join sales trips, and support customers
- Supporting customers who are purchasing or about to make a purchase
- Be responsible for direct sales as well as leading and managing the manufacturer representative channels
- Aiding marketing in qualifying new markets
- Soliciting customers by phone, email, or face-to-face visits
- Represent BaySpec at trade shows and exhibitions
Requirements
- College-level degree in Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Biology, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of industrial work experience with a proven track record in sales and marketing, preferably in analytical instrumentation, chemical engineering, semiconductor, medical devices, biomedical, biotech, defense & homeland security, pharmaceutical, laser instrumentation, solar and alternative energy, and research and development
- Exceptionally qualified candidates should demonstrate expertise in photonics, spectroscopic instruments, and understanding of analytical chemistry or spectroscopic instrumentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Charming telephone manners, patience with customers and colleagues, down-to-earth working attitude, problem-solving ability, and the ability to perform sales tasks with a 'pick-up-it-and-run' approach
- Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence, Raman, LIBS, cavity ring-down, UV, VIS, near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopic applications, or other spectroscopic applications
- Ability to work effectively in a small company environment, street-smart, and a strong team player
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in any one of the disciplines mentioned above
- Great interpersonal and communication skills in English
- Strong sales and marketing background, preferably in analytical equipment, spectral components, and analytical systems
- Experience in leading and managing manufacturer representative channels, including closing existing proposals, generating new opportunities, and expanding the representative network, particularly in Silicon Valley, California, the US, and North America
- Ability to work well in a small company environment, be 'street smart', and a strong team player
Pay
The position is for a full-time BaySpec employee located in the company's headquarters in Silicon Valley.
