Position Summary
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the daily sales efforts and overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication, and customer development for rooms, dining outlets, and events. They also oversee rental revenue, yield strategies, and meeting budget, forecast, and business mix targets.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares Sales Reports and annual Sales & Marketing Plan.
- Creates an effective Sales Program to increase awareness and positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnel.
- Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends, and economic factors.
- Absolutely access, understand, and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Aid Managing Director/General Manager in preparing marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs, and annual budget; manage within approved plans and budgets.
- Develop rates, group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix management.
- Effectively listen, communicate, and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations.
- Continuously perform essential job functions while standing and moving throughout the hotel property.
- Direct and manage all group, transient, and banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
- Prepare, implement, and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts, and other reports as directed/required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Might participate in Manager on Duty Program.
Prerequisites
- The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent hotel professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience.
- Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Must be dynamic, able to motivate and inspire a diverse team, and have excellent leadership skills.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- An equivalent of education and experience.
Experience
- Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.
- Minimum five years of sales and marketing in the upscale hotel industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, social media platforms, and property management systems.
- Command of the English language both written and verbal.
- Strong media, presentation, and computer skills.
