About the role

The Director of Revenue Management is responsible for maximizing revenue, profit, and market share associated with rooms and function spaces. This role requires excellent leadership skills, education, and experience in revenue management.

Responsibilities

  • Educate others on revenue management processes including demand, revenue, forecasting, opportunity analysis, and inventory management.
  • Work with hotel leaders to recommend and identify future markets, hotel opportunities, and guide sales strategy and pricing for transient, group, and catering.
  • Ensure a strategic mix of business and pricing strategies are set based on market conditions to achieve sell-out efficiency, targeted marketing, maximized revenue, profitability, and alignment with Annual Budget/Business Plans.
  • Create teamwork, take charge, generate enthusiasm, motivate, and lead by example.
  • Provide sales training to Front Office and Reservation associates.
  • Effectively analyze competitive sets, price positioning, seasonality, and mix.
  • Use all Yield Management tools available to maximize efforts.
  • Develop appropriate selling strategies including recommendations on rate, arrival patterns, length of stay, and discount rate availability.
  • Manage property participation and production through relevant Internet sites and other distribution channels (CRO, GDS, ADS, and Travel Agency Consortiums).
  • Build/maintain relationships with OTA Market Managers and ensure best representation on third-party web sites.
  • Develop monthly room revenue forecasts to be accurate within 5%.
  • Perform continuous analysis of online reputation management tools and online marketing analytics.
  • Participate in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Directly oversee Group Coordinator, Reservations Sales Agents, Inventory Manager, or Sales Reporting & System Analyst.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of revenue management experience required.
  • Multi-property experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent knowledge of transient, group, and catering customer segments.
  • Excellent personal management skills; time management, meeting deadlines, effective communication, and presentations skills.
  • Excellent understanding of total hotel revenue management concepts, processes, and systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced revenue management techniques.
  • Extremely confidential and capable of managing sensitive and confidential situations tactfully.
  • Negotiation, convincing, selling, and influencing professionals and/or associates.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent reading and writing abilities for completing paperwork and management reports, giving and receiving instructions, reviewing and preparing all documentation and training.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
