About the role

The Bailiwick Club in Greenwich, CT is seeking a Full-Time Director of Racquets to contribute to a positive experience for members and guests. The position offers a salary plus commissions.

Job Summary

As the Director of Racquets, you are responsible for the overall operation of the racquets facility that includes Tennis, Platform, and Pickleball operations. You will work within the framework of the Club and Cliff Drysdale Management to run an operation that aligns with the goals and vision of the Club and services its members and guests as well as Club employees. This includes maintaining and improving the Club's services and protecting its assets.

Job Expectations and Essential Duties

  • Supports Club membership sales effort to deliver budgeted sales numbers to include actively participating in prospect experience and soliciting leads.
  • Create and execute marketing plans that drive player development, programming, and room nights that meet or exceed department budget projections.
  • Maintain a strong administrative skillset within operations and racquet sports management.
  • Teach between 20-25 hours per week with appropriate and focused attention to both areas of the racquets program in tennis and pickleball.
  • Engage with the racquets community and participate with the community that are not involved in programming.
  • Ensure proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order.
  • Enforce all club and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Supervise all court play and proper charging of fees.
  • Initiate, direct, and promote tennis, and pickleball clinics, special events, and programs to attract and maintain members' tennis and pickleball interests.
  • Provide beginning through advance instruction (private and group) for all levels and ages of players.
  • Grow the membership for the club and provide first-class programming, play, and special events to maintain members.
  • Implement and develop lesson programs for adults in all sports.
  • Ensure proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order.
  • Report any maintenance problems to the appropriate person.
  • Monitor court usage including special events, clinics, and lessons.
  • Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, and direct work, evaluate performance, reward, and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Affirm that effective orientation and training are given to each new staff member.
  • Implement company training programs.
  • Implement the inventory control system policy and report results as required.
  • Ensure revenue is properly recorded into POS system and reconciled daily to schedule.
  • Develop a detailed annual calendar of tennis and pickleball activities and coordinate with Corporate Marketing applicable promotion campaigns.
  • Attend facility management meetings and report to the General Manager and any other appointed Board members designated by the club.

Education/Experience

At least a high school education or GED. Minimum requirement level of a 4.5 for both pickleball and tennis ratings. Reports To Club General Manager for all club operations and job functions and Senior Director for access to all support functions.
